NUI Clothing Manila: The Trendiest Store Online

For all you fashionistas out there, who, like yours truly are in dire need of time for shopping, I’m happy to inform you that we have finally found our salvation, thanks to the invention of the World Wide Web shopping is now one click away. Because small but trendy businesses like NUI Clothing Manila help bring fashion online.

Nui Clothing at Ebay

Nui Clothing Manila sells its stuff online via eBay.ph

Due to my tight and rigorous schedule, shopping in malls is now more of a fast drop rather than a long and pleasuring walk. Now, “mall-ratting” is like going to the dentist for a regular check-up, forced and unpleasant. I hardly have time to enjoy the little things in life such as shopping.

Thank god I have recently discovered the powers of Ebay. As I was browsing through the pictures of items on sale, one particular dress caught my eye. I quickly clicked the link and saw the name of the seller—NUI!

Then one thing led to another, now I’m writing an article about it. Nui Clothing Manila is owned by Che Bendicion, a fashion merchandiser / buyer. “I have always loved fashion & music. There was an itch it me then that I wanted something more than what’s available in the market.” And this was how Nui Clothing Manila was born.

Nui started as a sideline back in 2000, “I started designing and selling my own line of clothes during Christmas and sold it in different bazaars like (in) hotels, heaven sent, noel and shop at the fort until 2002.” Of course being a buyer meant that she was constantly traveling all over for ideas soon she had to give up her bazaar raket.

“Due to the work-load of my day job, I had to stop my “bazarista” life. All my unsold stocks were just locked in my bodega”. It was Che’s sister who told her three years later that she should try to sell her unsold stuff on eBay, surprisingly she was able to sell them all in just a month. She then started to rummage her closet to find items she can sell,

“Buyers kept asking for more. So my next step was to clean my closet.” Stocks ran out and soon she found herself wondering what else is there out there?

“I decided to focus on what I know best–fashion and what will make me different from other eBay sellers,” her day job proved to be useful, with her constant traveling here and abroad she was able to come up with ideas for the next level of Nui. “With the money I earned from selling my own stuff, I started buying and tried out unique fashionable pieces that (wasn’t) available here, everything snowballed from there.”

Being different was her goal and she accomplished it, most of her design inspirations were based from her travels abroad, “I love to stay in a place or cafe abroad and just see what people wear, usually street wear. In Manila, it’s definitely what people wear at night in upscale gimmik places.”

She also gets inspiration from Hollywood icons, “Of course there’s no ruling out the influence Hollywood celebrities and music because my love for fashion started from my love of music.”

According to Che, the market online is really big, the fact that the Internet is accessible to anyone and anywhere is already a plus factor in tapping clients from different places, not just here in Manila.

Starting An Online Store Business

Che Benedicion of Nui ManilaCapital is the back bone of any business but if your target market is online, well capital won’t be something you would worry about, “Online (stores) doesn’t require a physical store (with) big capital. It doesn’t need sales staff to man the store (and) it doesn’t require rent. Best of all, it’s not time consuming. You can start with almost zero capital like I did.”

Che also shared that the best thing in investing online is that you can keep your day job and earn more with your online side job. Now that’s something we’re all interested at.

But they say “all good things don’t come easy” although the market is big, there are still a few niches in the system, and they are called bogus buyers. These are people who love to make transactions over the net but never pay for them. Che admits that she’s encountered a handful of them, “Thank god, eBay has a system where you can set up buyer requirement. Like for me, buyers with zero feedback or feedback score of less than 90% are automatically blocked from bidding.”

My Review

What can I say I’m speechless, I love her store! It’s not because I’m writing an article about it, it’s because I really love her design. It ranges from simple to glam, to anything you want. I’m such a clothes lover that I consider styling a mode of expressing my feelings for the day.

When I see her styles, the possibilities are endless. It’s like your creativity has no limitations. A few accessories here and a different shoe there and poof! A whole new look for a different you.

The price is amazingly low compared to those you see at the mall so it’s a must to drop by on eBay and look for Nui products. Acquiring one piece will surely become a purchase of two or more, simply because a true fashionista knows what a good buy means!

This is a good business model. Operating a store without the overhead cost of renting a mall space while maintaining the chic appeal.

    Good job!

[…] I have encountered a considerable number of eBay.ph members — enterprising Mothers, Students, Employees (some of whom quit their day job to be eBayers full-time!), and, yes, the Unemployed —- who have devoted a great number of hours online managing their budding and growing online business or “sidelines” through eBay. From mere pre-paid dial-up internet cards, they, without the prodding from the telco giants, saw the need to upgrade their connection speed in order to more efficiently and effectively go about buying and selling their wares online.
