Next to fast-food chains selling burgers, the most patronized parlors are those engaged in pizzas and it makes a potential high-income business. Humble beginning
Lots’A Pizza was born when Mr. and Mrs. Ngan Tian were looking for a product that they could specialize in. They decided to concentrate on pizza because they found out that it was more popular worldwide than hamburger.
Based on annual international expo in the US, where it has pizza expos in four different locations on different dates, the biggest of which is the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas held yearly every month of March-the husband and wife team saw the potential of this industry in the country.
“The year 1996 was the right time to develop the Lots’ A Pizza brand because we saw the opportunity to take over the niche, the middle-to-lower income market, vacated by Greenwich Pizza. We also wanted to be one step higher than 3M, our closest competitor.” said Teresita Ngan Tian.
Eduardo and Teresita admitted that opening such business was a big challenge for them since they have no background in the food industry, but were merely exposed to the corporate world as CPAs. They started with 10 co-owned stores in 1996 and had to have an initial investment of two hundred and fifty thousand pesos, which mostly went for the equipment.
Almost 12 years later, Lot’s a Pizza is now a thriving pizza business with more than 70 outlets nationwide.

“We made it our objective to develop a “Filipino pizza,” one whose ingredients and baking process were made by a Filipino and one whose flavor would cater to the Filipino palate. We also wanted to offer an alternative to the more expensive foreign pizzas that dominate the Philippine market. We have partnered with local companies — San Miguel Purefoods, Del Monte, Kraft Phils, Pillsburry Phils., Jaka Processing Corp. to continuously develop our product, some of our ingredients have been customized exclusively for Lots’ A Pizza.” said Mrs. Ngan Tian.

i’m also inerested in franchising this pizza business. I’ve recently tried Lot’s a Pizza in Trinoma located at the grocery area - for a comparatively low cost - taste is better than other local competitors like 3M and greewhich.
