16th Hog Convention and Trade Exhibits Kicks-Off
The National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. (NFHFI) opens its 16th Annual Convention and Trade Exhibits at SM Mega Trade Hall in Mandaluyong City yesterday. With the theme “Filipino Hog Farmers, Go and Grow Global” , the convention gathers hog farmers (commercial and backyard), and members and officials of NFHFI from all over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The trade exhibits features the latest technology, service and product displays from local and international manufacturers of automation equipment, feeds and veterinary products from both local and foreign suppliers. The exhibit focuses on technical seminars on piggery production, nutrition, genetics, management and health aspects from top Filipino and foreign resource speakers.
No less than Agriculture Secretary Arthur C.Yap welcomed the guests and participants. In his opening speech, Secretary Yap mentioned that the Philippine swine industry may soon export about 300 metric tons of pork to Singapore. Yap also added that the country is now FMD (foot and mouth disease) free and more than ready to export. This is good news for the hog industry’s growth globally.
The hog industry accounts 15% of the P950-billion agriculture industry placing second to palay.
So to all entrepreneurs and hog enthusiasts out there, if you have nothing to do this weekend, go and visit the trade fair. You can still catch the event until Apri 14. Admission is absolutely free.
CATHOLIC WOMEN’S CLUB SUMMER BAZAAR
Bazaars or tyangge usually come during Christmas holiday. We see bazaars left and right during this season. But have you imagine a weekend of shopping, food, fun and lot’s of girl bonding– all for charity this summer? Well if not, you better come on April 21 and 22, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm at Super 8 Libis as Catholic Women’s Club hold it’s Summer Bazaar.
The Casa y Jardin summer bazaar was conceptualized to raise funds for CWC’s more than 90 charities. The bazaar will give bargain-hunter people like me to choose from a wide range of items from shoes, bags, jewelries, clothes, toys, antique items, and a lot more. Maid’s uniform will also be on sale, sewn by women from Gawad Kalinga Community who were trained through CWC program.
But the most anticipated items in this bazaar are the wide-array of limited edition plates such as the 2006 Mother and Child limited-edition plate by Vicente Manansala. This will be on sale for the first time. I’m sure this single collectors item is something to be excited about for collectors out there.
Catholic Women’s Club invites everyone to come to this 2-day event all for a cause.
